That’s all they ever said.
That’s all the little Japanese school kids ever yelled out to us as we rode past them on our bicycles.
It was weird because I didn’t yell out, “Konnichi wa!” every single time I saw them or other Japanese people.
That would have been weird.
But when I mentioned this to other Japanese people they didn’t seem to think it was strange.
“Do you talk to random Japanese people and yell out when you see them?” I asked.
“Of course not!” they replied.
I rest my case.
