He’d used tissue to clean it off her stomach, but she could still feel the warmth of where it had touched her and the crusty residue where remaining parts of it had dried.
She heard him sigh beside her and rolled over to stare at him sleeping.
But he wasn’t asleep.
They locked eyes and he reached for her in the darkness again.
She heard his breath catch in his throat as her hand slid down between his legs and he kissed her hungrily, his tongue meeting hers.
“I didn’t think you wanted me,” he said. His voice cracked and she knew he was trying to fight the emotion.
“I tried,” she whispered, perhaps more to herself than to him. “But I can’t stay away from you and you don’t seem to be…”
She couldn’t finish her sentence as he pushed inside her and she lost all cohesive thought.
What would happen tomorrow?
That was the last thought she had before surrendering to whatever the future had in store.
She hoped The Universe would be kind this time.
