I hadn’t thought about sunflowers for a long time. They had been my favourite until I discovered my ex’s mother loved them too. I couldn’t look at them for months, but tomorrow was summer and I’ll be damned if I was going to let him stop me from loving them again.
I was going to shine my way back to the top and no one was going to stop me. My new haircut had taken on a life of its own and had given me all the self confidence, self respect and belief in myself that I would ever need. I wasn’t going to be defeated again.
It was then that I knew I would never look back and that love was just around the corner, even though I wasn’t looking.
