365 Days Writing Prompt Challenge: Day 347

347. Classic Rock:

I don’t quite know how to explain to a non-Aussie just how the classic rock song, ‘Khe Sanh,’ makes us feel.

It’s one of those songs that gets under your skin and gives you goosebumps. You can feel the emotion welling up inside you and your heart literally feels like it will burst through your chest. You find yourself smiling at the lyrics and realise that no matter how old you are, we are all still trying to find our place in the world.

It’s on par with other classic pub anthems like, ‘Down Under,’ by Men at Work or perhaps, ‘Beds are Burning,’ by Midnight Oil. It’s one of those songs that you know all the lyrics to and belt out with great pride when you’ve had one too many drinks.

It’s also one song that if you’re feeling the slightest bit homesick will render you a blubbering mess.

Thanks Barnesy.
