When you’d been so close to it that you could almost taste it, the realisation that you had just missed out hit like a ton of bricks.
I had worked so hard for so many years to get to this point that when I could almost reach out and touch victory, I think I had gotten conplacent. I just assumed it would be mine and it didn’t work like that. Just because you reached the Olympics did not mean that you simply sat back and relaxed. No, this was the time to put every ounce of effort into getting that Gold. I had fallen short of that and I didn’t know if I would get a second chance.
