When Julie thought of star-crossed lovers she didn’t think of Romeo and Juliet, she thought of herself and her partner. She wished that the whole situation was a little more romantic like in the movies or in literature, but the fact of the matter was, real life just wasn’t like that.
True, she was caught between feuding families but it was more about whose farm was bigger or whose cows produced more milk. It certainly didn’t involve duels and there was definitely no poison. Well none that she planned on swallowing anyway.
Besides which, her partner and her were lesbians and she couldn’t think of a single couple in history who’d really made it into the books for being star-crossed lesbian lovers.
Hmm, she thought to herself. Maybe that’s something to aim for?
