I was born in the wrong era.
I was obsessed with the 1920s and wanted desperately to wear the beautiful clothes like the women of the silver screen. They were so feminine and oozed sex appeal without showing too much flesh. That was rare in today’s society.
It was my grandmother who introduced me to that time period when she gave me a pair of white, lace gloves. They’d been hers when she was growing up and she had always insisted that a lady wore gloves no matter how hot the weather.
Gloves to me were something that transformed your entire outfit; kind of like a hat. You could be someone else whilst wearing the gloves, but the moment you took them off, the magic was gone.
Maybe that’s why I never took them off.
Doctors need gloves you see.
