30 Days of Gratitude Challenge: Day 11

In Australia, the holiday I’m most grateful for is Christmas. I love the hot weather, the food and most importantly, being around my family and friends and enjoying their company.

In Japan though, Christmas is not such a big deal.

The lack of holidays for teachers compared to my native country means that any holidays here are something to be grateful for. I think in that case that summer vacation is my favorite. You have endless days of sunshine and despite the heat and humidity, hope is in the air and fireworks, shaved ice and fireflies make everything worth it.

Yep, I’m grateful for summer vacation in Japan.
