30 Days of Gratitude Challenge: Day 5

I’ve noticed that the challenges so far have all asked for one specific smell/food etc. and haven’t taken into account that some people (like me, for example!) cannot restrict myself to just one favorite. I have MANY favorites. So… with that in mind, I’m not going to talk about one sound I’m grateful for, but MANY sounds I’m grateful for.

For starters, I’m grateful for being able to actually hear sounds.

I love the sound of rain on my mum’s roof in Australia. It drums against the corrugated iron and believe it or not, helps me to sleep. I’m really not good with total silence most of the time.

I love the sound of music. At the moment I cannot stop listening to K-Pop and it truly does make me happy.

I love the sound of my mum’s voice on the telephone when I ring her in Australia.

I love the sound of my best friend, Shin’s voice when he’s telling me to fuck off because I’m singing stupid lyrics and annoying him… deliberately of course! 🙂

I love the rumbling sound of the streetcars in Hiroshima as they go over the bridge near my apartment.

I love the sound of my cats as they purr contentedly.

I love the sound of someone’s laugh that is so hilarious that it makes me laugh.

I love the sound of a crackling campfire.

I love the sound of birds singing in the morning when the sky is perfectly blue and the sun is shining brightly.

I love the sound of a beer can as you open it and hear that “hisssssss.”

I love the sound of someone in the movies who is trying to open their packet of food quietly and ends up laughing and making more noise than they wanted to.

I love the sound of my favorite bartender and friend who is so clumsy he’s always tripping up the stairs or dropping glasses.

I love the sound of bubble wrap when you pop it.

Yep, these are just a few of the sounds I am very, very, very grateful for.
