153. Shaping Up:
This was shaping up to be bigger than Ben Hur.
When I’d agreed that yes, it was fine to invite whoever she wanted to the wedding, I hadn’t expected that she’d invite people she went to grade school with and who hadn’t been a part of her life since then.
It was pointless to argue though. Every man knows that when it comes to weddings, the groom just needs to keep his mouth shut because he’s never going to win that fight.
Speaking of fights, my dad had once offered a single piece of advice and that had been, “Choose your battles wisely son…”
He’d been talking about my mother.
I wondered if perhaps I’d picked the wrong battle.
