“Oh my God, it’s beautiful! Where did you find it?” my friend, Lisa, asked me.
I smiled smugly. It was beautiful. It was fucking gorgeous and it was now in my room.
“Oh, you know, just on the side of the road…” I trailed off.
She frowned. “On the side of the road?” she asked, her disbelief clearly evident.
“Well yeah, sort of…” I replied.
“This is Japan, Jackie, not some third-world country where people leave their leftovers on the side of the road.”
I watched as she suddenly realised what I meant.
“By ‘side of the road’ do you mean you stole it from the side of the vending machine that was on the side of the road?” she asked, crossing her arms.
I wondered if she disapproved.
“Well yeah, I wouldn’t say, ‘stole,’ but yeah, the vending machine was on the side of the road, so technically I did find it there…”
I knew my statements were getting weaker and weaker. It was obvious I had stolen it. I had ripped it off the side of the vending machine in the middle of the night whilst wearing dark clothes and my ‘ninja’ shoes that didn’t make a sound. I was a criminal and needed to be locked up.
Lisa grinned. “Nice work sista!” she yelled, giving me a high-five. “I wish I had the guts to do that.”
I grinned back at her.
Yep, I could now say without a doubt that Oguri Shun was indeed in my bedroom, albeit in the form of a poster.
It was my favorite piece of furniture ever.
Everyone knows I have a MAJOR thing for the Japanese actor, Oguri Shun. This is the poster I’m referring to in the story and I always joke with my friends, Leslie and Yasuko, that one night I’m going to ‘borrow’ a poster from the side of one of the many vending machines around here and put it up in my room. A girl can dream…
