My friend, Leslie, has recently embarked on the whole writing prompt challenge that I’m doing. Yesterday she had to write a poem and she decided to pen this little haiku. I thought it was very appropriate because both of us live in Japan and hell, why not get into the whole Japanese spirit and life here by writing a traditional poem?!
For those of you who aren’t familiar with haiku, it’s a Japanese poem that involves 17 syllables in a 5,7,5 pattern. They’re also usually about the seasons, but modern ones break all those rules. Of course, it is a little more complicated than my basic explanation, but for the purpose of this post, it’s adequate.
This was just too good not to share!
It was my mom’s idea.
I’m lazy. Thanks mom.
